Payment will always be project and context specific. How long do you need a consultant for? How much time are you asking per engagement? Will they be a PT member of the dev team? Will they need to come to you/or you pay for travel if that’s easier?

I’d say a good per hour rate for basic consulting is $200 to $300 and go from there as there is prep time before the first contact and hopefully time after.
