I will always get my laughs out of your outrage
I’ve had another opinion piece drop, this time on Mic.com about Twintelle, a character in a new fighting game from Nintendo due out next month. So of course, those who could just as easily ignore the piece, decide to get their outrage pants on. Here’s the thing:
I’m usually amused by people that get bent out of shape by my opinion pieces. No one forced them to read them, not at all. Yet… Like clockwork I get the same wackass responses about how I’m too offended, or I’m not a real gamer because I criticized something, or my favourite (not really) super ineffective flinging of SJW!! at me in comments/sharing of said opinion piece.
I usually just laugh and block because those folks who waste their time railing at my words already gave it a click. Every time you share it in anger & attempt to show me I’m wrong as can be? Another click, thank you! Even if you don’t share it. Also it’s an opinion piece, not anyone’s gospel. I could be entirely off the mark, or you can disagree. That’s cool.
It’s the disagreement and how it’s never civil. It’s usually threats, name calling, slurs as standard discourse in comments & replies. Feel free to tell me I’m wrong, but if your opening volley is nothing but an insult? You get a block & I earn XP!
Here’s a thought, go write your own post and yell about it there to your “audience” Ok I laughed typing that, I couldn’t do it. It’s always dudes with like 1–5 , maybe 15 twitter followers, 0 YT subs, etc all up in knots about what I have to say.
