XB1 & the tale of trying to Twitch stream

So, I’ve been going through it with internet providers, (ISP’s going forward) lately. I am fed the entire fuck up with Comcast, but ATT U-Verse does not provide the speeds I need to stream to Twitch, or do anything at a speed faster than dial-up.

Speedtest the day after I got ATT U-Verse installed

So, reluctantly I am sticking with Comcast. Only because of these speeds:

Comcast Speedtest done the same day as above after plugging the Comcast gateway back in

Ok, so if Comcast is giving me such good speed, what’s the problem you’re wondering? Well, the week before I streamed from XB1 with a few hiccups that I attributed to the heavy load from E3 events being streamed on Twitch. However even with this heavy load, I still had little buffering while streaming DAI from the XB1. You can see the YT video here: https://youtu.be/0_jxRzv2m94

Fast forward to today, where I had planned a nice long stream, expecting the same performance I had the week before. That wasn’t to be, as I (and those hearty souls going through this with me) suffered buffering every few seconds, pixelation so bad it was intolerable to me. You can see the Twitch Vod’s below, which won’t be uploaded to YT.

Attempt 1 / Attempt 2 / Attempt 3

So I gave it up as a bad job, and streamed from PC, which was fine, no constant buffering, sound was fine, game was fine, no other issues. I’d also streamed from the PS4 earlier in the day, so that led me to one thing, there was a problem with streaming from XBox 1 via the Twitch app. Thanks to a friend, I was able to do some troubleshooting, first step is a speed test on the XB1 itself.

XB1 Speedtest 6–18–2016

So you can see why there was such crap quality on my stream, right? However this is confusing since my network speedtest yielded the following result:

Comcast Speedtest 6–18–2015

So, I don’t know what to do now. Is it a weird issue with the XB1 being on Wireless instead of wired into the ISP Gateway? My wireless connection is strong on other devices, the PS4 is on the same wireless network, so I am stumped.

This is more to put my issue out there, see if anyone else has had other such weird issues and if so, what they did to resolve them? Or is this strictly a Twitch problem relating to XB1? Oh, and I’ve tried the Twitch method which is to uninstall and reinstall the Twitch App from your XB1, which frankly is a silly method, especially if this is a constant problem when trying to stream from this device.

It’s not the first time I’ve had issues streaming from XB1, but this is the first time it’s actually kept me off the air and affected the quality so badly. Other times, I’ve gotten an error claiming no game was running that was eligible to be broadcast, even though it was. Or Twitch app just crashing out in the middle of a stream with a very long error code.

So TL;DR, I’m having problems streaming from XB1 on Twitch, what about you reader?
